The Examined Life Sciences needs you!
About us
Hi, I'm Orlando. A postdoc in Bioengineering and plant sciences at the University of Seattle, USA. This site was spun off a blog I've been keeping at wordpress, also called TXL. My buddy Alvaro, PhD student at the University of Montpellier, France has helped out with developing the concept and contributing content. It's a project born of interest and fun, and we'd love for you to be part of it.
Elevator pitch
An E-zine by and for life scientists with heaps of intellect and candour, with a relish of humour on the side .
Key words: practical, content-focused, opinionated, political, international, opinion-forming, independent, stimulating.
Operational model:
Non-profit, non-advertising. Driven by enthusiasm. Potentially in future asking for donations to help cover operational costs relating to the website. Till then I (Orlando) will pay all costs. Currently hosted on Weebly (planning to upgrade to a paid package) unless someone out there feels like doing some website building.
About you:
involved in the life-sciences. Undergrad to professor, academia or industry, or just an engaged citizen scientist. We don't want to exclude anyone who's really interested.
What could you do?
You could write a post, we have plenty of suggestions if you can't think of anything.
Interview someone
Design and illustrations
Help manage the website
This is a hobbyist project. It should be fun, we won't expect a lot from you time-wise, and unless you write something really offensive we won't turn you away. We can offer advice and support to help you in your writing. If we get enough contributors we'd like to make a space for people to share ideas and collaborate.
